• CNYWS show at Cogar Gallery, HCCC Jurors Choice Award

    HERKIMER — The Cogar Gallery at Herkimer County Community College is featuring the Central New York Watercolor Show now through Monday, Nov. 4.

    The Cogar Gallery is located in the Hummel Corporate and Professional Education Center, at the main entrance to the McLaughlin College Center. It is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday, 8 a.m to 5 p.m. when the college is open. Visit www.herkimer.edu/cogar.

    The Central New York Watercolor Society was formed in February 1982 with 14 charter members from the central New York region. Today the society boasts a membership of more than 180 artists. The first president of the society was Willard J. Sauter of Utica. Each year, the society presents three art shows of member work. The 2013 juried show is being held at HCCC.

    The juried prize winners are: Best in Show: Carl Crittenden for “Brataslav Rooftops.”

    Jurors Choice Awards: Jeanne Lampson, “Camp Bud;” Patricia Gancarz, “Cascade;” Martha Deming, “Garden Girls.”

    Artistic Merit Awards: Kathy Kernan, “Market Day;” Roland Stevens III, “September Morning;” Tom McCobb, “Erieville Hills.”

    Silver Medallion Awards for artists who have been accepted in five or more juried exhibits: Deborah Rosato, Jane Taylor, Bud Bolte, Sandra DeVisser, Loretta Lepkowski, Martha Deming and Barbara Kellogg.
